If you're not lucky enough to have a friend or family member with sewing experience, negotiating the novelties of sewing can be intimidating. Learn to interpret sewing pattern iconography, identify fabric selvage and plan for minor pattern adjustment to adapt industrial dimensions to your own shape. For new sewers with machines, we can also go over the nuances of presser feet, needle gauge, thread tension and that other stuff that may overwhelm you.
If you have one you're hoping to sew, bring a pattern and the fabric you plan to use. If not, we will have extra on hand to guide you.
I love making things I could never afford in a store, and have done it enough to mostly know how to avoid sewing pieces backwards, inside out, or upside down. I'm pretty good with gnarly fabrics like fine silks, and even have some skillz when it comes to adjusting patterns. Never made pants...if someone wants to teach that class, I'll sign up for it!
